Hannover is the capital city of Lower-Saxony, one of the 16 German states. Situated in Northern Germany, just an hour south of Hamburg, Hannover can be reached by plane (Hannover International Airport HAJ), by fast ICE trains, and from several major highways (A2, A7).
Hannover is rich of parks and Gardens, including the famous "Herrenhäuser Gärten". As a consequence of the battle of Waterloo, Hannover became a Kingdom. For more than one hundred years, the Kings of Hannover were also Kings of England.
More information on the city and history of Hannover is available at the Hannover Website.
There are University buildings all over Hannover. The main building, however, is a former Royal castle. When the last King had to leave Hannover due to an attack by the Prussians, this newly-built castle was handed over to the University as its main building. Parts of the computer science department are still located in this dignified place.
24.000 students are enrolled at the University of Hannover.
There are high-end multimedia lecture rooms and well-equipped modern facilities, both in the castle and the newer University buildings.
LSO+RE 2006 is hosted by the Software Engineering Group at the University of Hannover.
